What's the Day Like Down There?

E-mail Print PDF

A child awakens to the crows of a hundred different roosters and metal clanging as mama gets the fire going to make the tortillas that she will send to sell in the market place. It's 3:30 am the sun is not up yet but everyone is starting to come alive after the short nights sleep. His stomach aches for something to eat because he went to bed hungry and it's only gotten worse. Maybe mama will give him a couple of tortillas with salt, there is not enough money to buy coffee or even a small piece of bread. There are no beans or rice. Nothing to eat in one room house that the 12 of them call home, the situation seems hopeless but Juan has a smile on his face he gets dressed, tells his mother goodbye, grabs his backpack and runs down the small hill in the front of the house. He has a smile on his face as he climbs the hill, he's hoping that someone is at the center. You see Juan is a child who is sponsored at The Center of Faith , Hope and Love, he is content and he knows that he will have a good hot meal at lunch time.

But for Juan the center is much more than a plate of food! Juan knows that he is loved by God and by the staff of the center. Unlike some of the ministries that just feed children, Juan will often stay until night time forces him to leave the small soccer field where he and the other kids spend hours playing and just being kids.

Every day the staff shows up at the feeding center to prepare the meals for children , some of which would never receive a whole balanced meal in the entire week. The cooks cook and serve the food to the children like Juan who have been waiting for what seems like an eternity which only a hungry child can describe

Bro. Victor goes to the market place every morning and buys the needed food for the day. He then takes it to the center so the cooks can begin to prepare it. Bro. Victor then begins to prepare the daily Bible lesson that he will share with all the kids. The Bible lesson will last 15 – 45 minutes depending upon the time.

The money that each sponser donates is what makes this ministry possible. The cooks, the food, the center director, all come out of the monthly donation, but there is something else that the sponsors monthly donations covers the follow school supplies.

Writing Notebook, 5 – 200 page notebooks, 1 drawing notebook, 1 notebook of Graph Paper, 1 special notebook, ruler set with ruler, triangle, compass, protractor, Pencils, crayola, markers, white board markers. Temper paints, glue, paint brushes, atlas, mapbooks, dictionary, onion paper, and maskin tape.

We also provide shirts, pants or skirts, belts and shoes for school uniforms.

So your $35 does go a long way! But most important of all we are able toi give a child Faith, Hope and Love, but the greatest of these is Love!
